Dr. K.A. Paul’s Life Under Threat After Supreme Court Victory Against Betting App Syndicate

Urgent Appeal Made to PM Modi and HM Amit Shah for Security After Threat Linked to PIL Against Illegal Betting Syndicate

New Delhi, August 3, 2025

Just a day after securing a major legal victory in the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India against the online betting app cartel, Dr. K.A. Paul — international humanitarian and President of the Prajashanthi Party — narrowly escaped a coordinated kidnap attempt in central Delhi.

The incident occurred on August 2, 2025, between 4:PM and 4:40 PM outside The Park Hotel, Connaught Place. As Dr. Paul exited the hotel, he was followed by two unknown men and an autorickshaw driver. One of the men tried to divert him into an auto headed in the wrong direction. When Dr. Paul refused and continued walking, the group blocked his path. Acting swiftly, he began recording the incident, capturing visuals of the suspects and the auto involved (registration number: DL1RP 2902).

Dr. Paul has submitted a detailed complaint to the Connaught Place Police Station S H O Mr Malik and I O Mr Sharma along with video and photographic evidence. He believes this was a premeditated attempt to intimidate and harm him, orchestrated by those whose interests have been directly affected by his Public Interest Litigation (PIL).

On August 1, 2025, the Supreme Court had heard Dr. Paul’s PIL challenging the legality of betting platforms like Dream11, Mobile Premier League (MPL), and A23 Games. The Court issued notices to 29 states and central agencies including the ED, RBI, and TRAI, following his submissions.

“After the Supreme Court’s action on my PIL, this attack is a clear message from those afraid of the truth being exposed. I appeal to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji to treat this as a matter of national concern and provide me immediate security,” said Dr. Paul.

Dr. Paul remains committed to his public interest work and has offered his full cooperation to law enforcement agencies. He urged authorities to investigate the matter urgently and ensure such threats are not allowed to succeed.
