The Secret to Fitness by Akshay Kumar: Discipline, Not Weights or Crash Diets

Finishes dinner at 6:30 PM in order to allow the stomach to rest.

In Bollywood, Akshay Kumar has always been notable for leading a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. The actor, who is well-known for doing his own stunts and adhering to a straightforward but rigorous regimen, recently shared another trick to remaining in shape at the age of 57 at the book Your Body Already Knows launch. According to Akshay, he fasts for the entire day on Mondays, finishing his last meal on Sunday night and then continuing to fast until Tuesday morning. He clarified that this weekly routine helps him stay healthy overall and keeps him feeling light and energized. Purnima Verma, a nutritionist, concurs with this practice, pointing out that fasting can increase concentrate, detoxify the body, reset the circadian cycle, improve metabolism, and improve sleep.

According to Akshay, having dinner early—typically around 6:30 pm—is just as important as fasting. Since late-night meals need the stomach to continue functioning while the rest of the body is sleeping, he thinks it’s essential to let the stomach rest at night. Your stomach doesn’t have enough time to rest and is still exhausted when you wake up. He advised taking care of your stomach first if you wish to avoid illnesses. Early eating, he says, guarantees healthy digestion before bed, lessening the body’s burden and preventing health issues.

Akshay further advised individuals to concentrate on attentive routines and natural eating habits rather than crash diets and commercial foods. He said that he doesn’t undertake traditional weight training, unlike many people in the film profession. Rather, his exercise routine consists of outdoor activities, bodyweight exercises, and rock climbing. Even his gym is “for monkeys,” he said, with climbing and hanging workouts instead of heavy machines. With his constant lifestyle choices—early dinners, fasting, and functional workouts—Akshay Kumar is setting the standard for overall health and fitness.
