RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) pledges long-term support and compassion for families affected by the June 4 stampede tragedy.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) announced the “RCB Cares” initiative, offering ₹25 lakh to the families of each of the 11 people who died in a stampede outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, 2025. The tragedy occurred during the celebratory ‘victory parade’ for RCB’s first IPL title.
A Gesture of Compassion
RCB said it is providing this payment as a mark of respect to the deceased and their families. While it cannot undo the loss, the gesture demonstrates solidarity, empathy, and compassion for everyone affected.
Honoring the Deceased
In a heartfelt statement, RCB called June 4 a day that left the franchise and the community devastated. The 11 victims were more than friends—they were an integral part of the city’s and community’s journey. RCB admitted that their absence creates a lasting effect that everyone associated with the franchise feels.
RCB emphasized that this support goes beyond money, reflecting a long-term commitment to care for families coping with the loss of loved ones.

Launch of RCB Cares
Alongside the relief fund, RCB launched ‘RCB Cares,’ a long-term social responsibility program. The initiative aims to honor those who perished in the stampede and carry out actions reflecting the feelings and expectations of the supporter community. RCB emphasized that RCB Cares is not only a one-off activity but a continuous way of helping the community in a tough time.
Context of the Tragedy
The stampede happened during the grand victory parade on June 4, when thousands of fans gathered outside the stadium. Overcrowding and inadequate crowd management led to 11 deaths and many injuries.
After the incident, the Karnataka government raised compensation for each family from ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh. RCB had initially pledged ₹10 lakh per family. This latest announcement aligns with government support and reinforces the franchise’s commitment to helping the victims’ families.
A Charitable Gesture Beyond Cricket
RCB’s response shows that the franchise takes responsibility beyond the field, caring for fans’ well-being both on and off the pitch. By launching RCB Cares and providing substantial financial support, the franchise turns grief into a lasting bond of compassion, ensuring the victims’ memories are honored.
