India Leads Global Dialogue on Regenerative Medicine: IANR & SRS 2025 Conference Begins in New Delhi

Minister Jual Oram Urges Inclusion of Cellular Therapies Under Ayushman Bharat; Over 500 Experts Gather to Shape the Future of Neurorestoratology

The 17th Annual Conference of the International Association of Neurorestoratology (IANR), held jointly with the 7th Annual Conference of the Society of Regenerative Sciences (SRS India), began today at The Ashok Hotel, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.

The two-day event (October 17–18, 2025) has brought together over 500 leading doctors, scientists, and patient representatives from India and abroad to deliberate on the latest innovations and policy frameworks in regenerative medicine and neurorestoratology.

Minister Jual Oram Highlights Transformative Potential of Cellular Therapies

The conference was inaugurated by Shri Jual Oram, Hon’ble Minister of Tribal Affairs, who lauded Indian scientists for placing India among global leaders in regenerative medicine.

Emphasizing the importance of accessible healthcare innovations, he said:

“I will request Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to consider including cell therapy for Divyang beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat. These scientific advancements have the power to transform lives and make India a global hub for regenerative medicine.”

Health Minister J.P. Nadda: India at the Forefront of Regenerative Innovation

Shri J.P. Nadda, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, extended his greetings through a video message, noting India’s rapid progress in the field:

“India is emerging as a global leader in regenerative medicine, with its doctors pioneering stem cell and cellular therapy innovations. Conferences like this bridge research, policy, and practice—helping deliver real solutions for patients with neurological and orthopedic disorders, which remain a government priority.”

Conference Focus: Regenerative and Cellular Therapies for Untreatable Disorders

The conference centers on regenerative medicine using cellular therapies, which aim to repair damaged tissues and restore lost functions in patients with neurological, orthopedic, and other difficult-to-treat disorders.

With over 2.68 crore Divyang citizens in India, experts stressed that such therapies can significantly improve quality of life for patients who were once considered untreatable. India currently ranks among the top countries globally in scientific publications related to neurological conditions.

Dr. Alok Sharma: “India Leads the World in Regenerative Research”

Representing the Society of Regenerative Sciences, Dr. Alok Sharma said:

“Our work in regenerative medicine offers new hope to patients with no conventional treatment options. India leads globally in research output, and with Prime Minister Modi’s continued encouragement for stem cell centers and international collaboration, we have the opportunity to make these life-changing treatments accessible to all.”

Dr. Sharma was also nominated as the President of IANR for the year 2025, reflecting international recognition of India’s growing influence in the field.

Global Leaders Praise India’s Progress

Dr. Hongyun Huang, Founding President of IANR, expressed appreciation for India’s advancements, stating:

“We are deeply grateful for the Indian government’s support and the dedication of its scientific community. The goal of neurorestoration is to recover lost neurological functions and enhance patients’ quality of life. India is now more advanced than China in regenerative medicine—a remarkable achievement.”

Global Participation and Policy Discussions

Delegates from the USA, China, Poland, South Korea, Argentina, Hong Kong, and several other countries are participating.
Day 1 sessions featured discussions on clinical neurorestoration trends, stem cell interventions, translational research, and the policy ecosystem needed to accelerate regenerative medicine in India.

Joint Appeal for Inclusion Under Ayushman Bharat

In a united call to action, doctors and patient representatives appealed to the Government of India to include cellular therapies for neurological, orthopedic, and other chronic conditions under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), ensuring that advanced regenerative treatments become affordable and accessible to all citizens.

Day 2 Preview: Translating Science into Patient Care

The conference will continue tomorrow (October 18) with thematic sessions, panel discussions, and international presentations focusing on clinical translation, policy alignment, and the future roadmap of regenerative and restorative medicine in India.
