Uzbekistan University of Journalism and Mass Communications and India’s MERI Group expand collaboration through joint programs, student exchanges, dual diplomas, and new media training initiatives.
NEW DELHI, October 30, 2025
The Uzbekistan University of Journalism and Mass Communications (UzJOKU) hosted a high-level delegation from India’s MERI Group of Institutes to explore new areas of collaboration in journalism and media education. The meeting underscored both nations’ shared vision of preparing globally competent media professionals equipped with modern skills and ethical values.
During the discussions, representatives from both institutions reviewed the implementation of earlier agreements and charted out future steps to enhance cooperation. Key areas of focus included developing joint academic programs, offering dual diplomas, organizing online and offline training modules, and facilitating student and faculty exchange programs.
The partnership between UzJOKU and the MERI Group was formalized earlier this year through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed during UzJOKU’s visit to India. The agreement provides a comprehensive framework for academic collaboration, encompassing research initiatives, seminars, and joint conferences aimed at strengthening professional journalism education.
Leaders from both sides highlighted the practical benefits of such cooperation. For UzJOKU, partnering with the MERI Group—known for its modern teaching infrastructure and integration of hands-on experience through television and radio studios—offers a model for contemporary journalism training. Many MERI students also gain real-world exposure through internships with India’s leading media organizations.
This deepening academic partnership between Uzbekistan and India is expected to produce a new generation of skilled, globally competitive media professionals while further enriching cultural and educational ties between the two countries.
