War 2 Advance Bookings Cross 50,000 Tickets in Just One Day

Updated At: August 12, 2025 1:53 PM

Trade analysts predict ₹30 crore-plus opening for War 2 Hindi version

Mumbai, August 12, 2025

The buzz around War 2 is building as advance bookings for the Hindi version opened to encouraging numbers. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, the much-anticipated action thriller sold over 50,000 tickets for day one across national chains PVRInox and Cinepolis by 11:30 pm on August 11, 2025. The figures hint at a powerful opening, setting the tone for the Independence Day weekend.

Trade Analysts See ₹30 Crore-Plus Hindi Debut

Industry experts estimate that pre-release sales in PVRInox and Cinepolis alone could surpass 1.5 lakh tickets, translating into a ₹30 crore-plus net opening for the Hindi version. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film is a major new addition to Yash Raj Films’ expansive Spy Universe, a franchise that has delivered multiple big-budget hits in recent years.

Telugu Bookings to Begin Next Day

While Hindi bookings are off to a solid start, the Telugu version will open for reservations tomorrow. Analysts expect decent traction in the southern market but note that War 2, being primarily a Bollywood production, may not receive the same built-in regional boost often enjoyed by large-scale Tollywood releases.

Strong But Not Record-Breaking Buzz

Trade chatter describes the film’s Hindi advance bookings as “good, though not historic.” The current numbers fall short of the record-breaking highs achieved by certain Bollywood blockbusters in 2023. However, many believe the film’s appeal could grow significantly after release, especially with positive audience feedback.

The Role of Word of Mouth

One key factor will be how the film performs beyond the metros. Hrithik Roshan’s last major release, Fighter, drew strong numbers in urban centres but underperformed in rural and tier-2 markets. Whether War 2 can close this gap will be a crucial post-release storyline.

Global Box Office Ambitions and Competition

Internationally, advance booking trends suggest that War 2 could approach a ₹100 crore worldwide opening day. However, it faces stiff competition from the Tamil blockbuster Coolie, which is targeting a massive ₹140 crore debut. Still, Hindi films often maintain momentum better after opening day compared to Tamil releases, giving War 2 a chance to overtake in the following days.

A High-Stakes Holiday Release

With high-octane action, a powerhouse cast, and the much-hyped on-screen collaboration between two pan-India superstars, War 2 is positioned as one of the most significant Bollywood releases of 2025. If early buzz translates into strong audience turnout, the film could dominate the Independence Day box office and cement its status as a blockbuster.
