Aamir Khan has confirmed his return to acting with his upcoming film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ which is scheduled for a Christmas release. Making a surprise appearance alongside the director Kiran Rao at the screening of their production venture ‘Laapataa Ladies’ at IIM Bengaluru, Aamir engaged with fans in a Q&A session. Responding to questions about his future acting projects, especially following the mixed response to his last film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ in 2022, Aamir disclosed details about his next venture. He revealed that filming for ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ had commenced the previous week and expressed optimism about its release during the festive season. Describing the film as “the next level of ‘Taare Zameen Par,'” he emphasized that although the theme is similar, the characters and storyline differ. Unlike the emotionally impactful ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ aims to evoke laughter from the audience. Directed by Prasanna, the film offers a fresh perspective on a familiar theme.
Aamir stated, “The theme remains the same, but unlike ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ which brought tears, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ will bring laughter. Prasanna is directing it, and it’s an entertaining film. We are exploring the same topic but from a different angle.”
After a year-long break from acting following ‘Laal Singh Chaddha,’ Aamir Khan’s last major success was the 2017 film ‘Secret Superstar.’ During his hiatus, he made a cameo appearance in ‘Salaam Venky’ and expressed a desire to spend more time with his family. ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ marks his highly anticipated return to the silver screen, and Aamir is excited about the entertaining and perspective-altering narrative crafted by Prasanna.
