
With the rapid rise of cyber threats in today’s digital age, artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a powerful tool in cybersecurity. Addressing this crucial topic, the Management Education and Research Institute (MERI) organized its 20th National IT Seminar, APRENDEMOS-2025. The event brought together over 250 students, IT experts, and academicians to discuss technological advancements and security challenges.
The seminar commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a Saraswati Vandana and the national anthem. In his inaugural address, MERI Vice President Prof. Lalit Agarwal emphasized AI’s transformative role in cybersecurity and underscored the collective responsibility to safeguard the digital world.
AI’s Role in Cybersecurity: Insights from Experts
Keynote speaker Alok Vijayanti, Managing Director of Cyroit Technologies, shed light on evolving cyber threats and how AI-driven solutions can counteract them. Jitendra Singh, Data Science Manager at Publicis Sapient, highlighted vulnerabilities in digital security and discussed encryption, access control, and AI-powered threat detection as essential protective measures.
During the technical sessions, cybersecurity and insurance expert Suresh Kumar Sethi elaborated on common cybercrimes such as phishing, ransomware, and software piracy. He also explained how cyber insurance can mitigate financial risks.
Providing a live demonstration, Surya Pratap Singh, Director of Hacking Club and CEO of Ezovi Infotech Services, showcased real-world hacking techniques, including phishing, social media breaches, and malware attacks. He shared practical tips on safeguarding personal information from cybercriminals.
Panel Discussion and Student Engagement
A dynamic panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Rakesh Khurana, Advisor at MERI, featured prominent cybersecurity professionals, including cloud specialist Sougata Pramanik, Cyber Security Officer SI Manoj Kumar, and Dr. Shereen Zafar, Assistant Professor at Jamia Hamdard University. Dr. Zafar highlighted AI’s role in cybersecurity research, while SI Manoj Kumar stressed the importance of public awareness in preventing online fraud.
An inter-college IT quiz was also held, allowing students to test their technical knowledge and gain new insights. The seminar concluded with an awards and certification ceremony, where speakers, participants, and organizers were recognized for their contributions.
With a focus on AI-driven security measures, APRENDEMOS-2025 reinforced the significance of staying ahead in the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.
