The Emergency Ward at AIIMS in Delhi has been temporarily closed due to a fire that occurred in the hospital. The fire originated in the endoscopy room, which is situated near the emergency ward. Eight fire trucks quickly arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire.
All patients and staff in the vicinity were safely evacuated after a fire alert was received from the emergency ward at 11:54 am.
As a result of the incident, the emergency ward at AIIMS Delhi has been shut down until further notice. Individuals seeking emergency medical attention are being directed to go to Safdarjung Hospital instead. This information is being communicated to patients and their families at the entrance of the hospital.
AIIMS stated, “The fire has been brought under control. The Director has also arrived at the scene to assess the situation.” The endoscopy room is located on the second floor of the Old Outpatient Department (OPD) building.
“The fire originated on the second floor of the Old Raj Kumari OPD Building. Firefighters successfully brought it under control, but the search operation is still ongoing,” stated the Fire Department.
