Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have settled their divorce, thereby ending what has been perhaps one of the longest and meanest separations in Hollywood. Jolie’s attorney James Simon confirmed the news, stating the details of the deal have been sealed. People magazine provides the first report on this.
Expressing that this is a major step forward in their ongoing process, Simon reflected on the long journey since Jolie first filed for divorce more than eight years ago. Day in and day out, he said, Jolie has been focused on guiding her family away from the ongoing drama toward healing. He said, while relieved by it, it’s just taken a great toll on Jolie to carry for so long.

He indicated that, while they have struck a deal, no formal court paperwork has yet passage through the court. Therefore, the whole matter must still go through each step in a court prior to becoming a final settlement. Inquiry sent to Pitt’s attorney got no immediate response regarding the settlement.
Aged 49 and 61 years old respectively, Jolie and Pitt were an established couple for 12 years raising six children. An altercation between Pitt and her and the children reportedly led her to file for divorce in 2016 after a flight on a private jet. In 2019, she and Pitt were deemed legally divorced, but their children and property remained unresolved.
This case was initially settled by private judges who promised equal joint custody of the children. But Jolie featured removal due to reckoning, which an appeals court granted, and so renewal for negotiation has occurred.
