Article 370 Enters Second Weekend with Strong Box Office Performance

As it steps into its second weekend, Article 370 continues to shine brightly at the Box Office. Yami Gautam’s movie has had a successful first week, poised to join the coveted Rs 50 crore club in the domestic market. Despite minimal pre-release hype, the film, produced by Aditya Dhar, amassed between Rs 2-3 crore on its seventh day in theaters, bringing its total earnings to approximately Rs 35 crore by the end of its first week. This is an impressive feat considering the film’s budget was around Rs 40 crore.

Article 370 faces no significant competition at the Box Office, ensuring its continued dominance into the second weekend. Buoyed by overwhelmingly positive reviews on social media and among audiences, it is expected to surpass the Rs 50 crore mark by the end of its second Sunday, with its performance on the following Monday providing insight into its overall box office trajectory.

Here’s a breakdown of Article 370’s 7-day Box Office Collection – Nett Numbers (source: sacnilk):
Friday: Rs 5.9 crore
Saturday: Rs 7.4 crore
Sunday: Rs 9.6 crore
Monday: Rs 3.25 crore
Tuesday: Rs 3.3 crore
Wednesday: Rs 3.15 crore
Thursday: Rs 2.85 crore (early estimates)
Total: Rs 35.45 crore

Despite the release of Kaagaz 2, Operation Valentine, and Dune Part Two today, none of these films are expected to disrupt Article 370’s smooth performance. While Kaagaz 2 might draw audiences for its emotional resonance as the late actor Satish Kaushik’s final theatrical release, Operation Valentine could find a niche audience in the South. Dune 2 already appeals to a specific demographic, leaving ample space for Article 370 to continue thriving.

The film narrates India’s journey towards the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special privileges to the state of Jammu & Kashmir until the ruling BJP government opted to rewrite history by bifurcating the state into two Union Territories – Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
