Significance of Basant Panchami
The festival heralds the advent of spring, which is why it is called indeed ‘Basant’ (spring) Panchami. The celebration is observed on the fifth (Panchami) day of the month of Magha and typically falls around the January-February transition of the Gregorian calendar.

Thus, the day that awaits the festive mood brings worshippers to clothe themselves in yellow, adorn their homes with yellow flowers, and gorge upon delicacies created for this significant day. Yellow is considered as the color of wisdom, knowledge, and prosperity, which is another adjacent embrace of Goddess knowledge Saraswati. Many chants hymns, shlokas, and Saraswati Vandana invoke deity knowledge and enlightenment.
