Beaver Moon to Glow Brightest on November 15: A Celestial Spectacle Not to Be Missed

Supermoon: Being the final of four consecutive supermoons in 2024, this full moon will appear larger and brighter than usual, making it unique.

New Delhi: 14 Nov 2024

The ‘Beaver Moon’ will manifest in the night sky on November 15, 2024, around 4:28 p.m. EST (2128 GMT), so prepare yourself for a breathtaking show.

According to NASA, this full moon is unique because it will appear larger and brighter than usual because it is the final of four consecutive supermoons in 2024. After the Blue Moon in August, the Harvest Moon in September, and the Hunter’s Moon in October, this supermoon is the last one of the year. Since it signals the arrival of winter in many areas, it is frequently connected to colder temperatures.

Best Time to See the Beaver Moon:

Mark November 14–16 on your calendars since the moon will appear full for a day or two prior to its actual fullness. The moon will rise in the east about sunset and set in the west around sunrise if you’re keen to see it.

According to NASA, it will be at its brightest at 4:29 PM EST. The stunning Pleiades star cluster, sometimes referred to as the “Seven Sisters,” which is situated in the Taurus constellation, will be visible alongside the Beaver moon. The four planets that are visible to the naked eye are Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, and Mercury.

What gives it the name Beaver Moon?

The term “Beaver Moon” refers to the time of year when beavers often build their winter dams. At this time, beavers start to retreat to their lodges after stockpiling winter food. This full moon may also be known as the “Frost Moon” or the “Deer Rutting Moon,” depending on cultural customs. This is due to the fact that the full moon occurs when frosts and snowfall start, especially in the northeastern area of North America.

Supermoon: Because the moon’s orbit periodically takes it closer to Earth, supermoons occur multiple times a year. The impact is frequently most apparent when the supermoon is close to the horizon, where the “moon illusion” can make it appear even larger. However, the precise increase in size and brightness can vary.
