New Delhi : Former Union Minister Birender Singh announced on Monday that he has resigned from the BJP and will be joining the Congress. This decision comes nearly a month after his son, Brijender Singh, joined the Congress party. Additionally, Birender Singh’s wife, Prem Lata, a former BJP MLA from Haryana, has also resigned from the BJP.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Birender Singh stated, “I have resigned from the primary membership of the BJP and have sent my resignation to party chief J P Nadda. My wife Prem Lata, who served as MLA from 2014 to 2019, has also left the party. Tomorrow, we will be joining the Congress.” Birender Singh had switched to the BJP almost a decade ago after being associated with the Congress for over four decades.
Speculation about Birender Singh’s move to the Congress intensified after his son’s entry into the party on March 10.
