On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, the Brahmin Samaj of India (Registered) organized a “Brahmin Meet and Khichdi” event on Sunday at 13, Talkatora Road, New Delhi. The event, themed “Prithvi Mata Rakshatu” (Protect Mother Earth), emphasized environmental conservation and the Brahmin community’s contributions to societal progress.
The event was chaired by MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma and featured former Governor Kalraj Mishra as the chief guest. Dr. Vishwapati Trivedi (Retd. IAS), the national president of the organization, coordinated the program and discussed the collective efforts of the Brahmin community to strengthen social unity.
Speaking on the occasion, Kalraj Mishra highlighted the significant role Brahmins have played in shaping society. He said, “Whenever society faces uncertainty or darkness, the Brahmin community has offered guidance through its knowledge and values. Now, the community must also take the lead in addressing modern challenges like environmental conservation.”
Dr. Mahesh Sharma appreciated the event’s focus, stating, “This gathering not only unites the Brahmin community but also delivers an inspiring message about preserving our environment and cultural heritage. Such initiatives strengthen the social fabric and motivate people to work for a better future.”
Dr. Vishwapati Trivedi underscored the importance of the community’s contributions, saying, “The Brahmin community has always worked for humanity’s welfare, excelling in education and social service. We are committed to expanding our role in promoting environmental sustainability and public welfare.”
During the program, Atul Mishra, the organization’s national general secretary, suggested renaming Ayodhya railway station after Goswami Tulsidas to honor his contributions to Indian culture and spirituality.
The event witnessed participation from prominent personalities, including Bunesh Pathak (Deputy Chairman, Uttar Pradesh), Rajendra Dhurve (Deputy Chairman, Madhya Pradesh), Mukul Agrihotri (Deputy Chairman, Himachal Pradesh), Anuj Sharma (MLA, Chhattisgarh), Amrish Sharma (MLA, Madhya Pradesh), Haryana Minister Arvind Sharma, Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Retired General G D Bakshi, Haryana Minister Arvind Sharma, Senior Leader Chetan Sharma and senior social workers Sudhanshu Trivedi and Anuradha Tiwari.
Attendees celebrated Makar Sankranti with a traditional Khichdi feast and collectively pledged to contribute to environmental protection efforts. The program, moderated by Pt. Umashankar Pandey, emphasized raising awareness about sustainability and cultural preservation.
The event aimed to foster unity within the Brahmin community while reinforcing its commitment to societal and environmental well-being.
