₹3,000 FASTag Annual Pass: How Much Can You Actually Save? Here’s the Full Calculation for Delhi-Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Mumbai Routes

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced the launch of the FASTag Annual Pass scheme, set to begin from August 15, allowing private vehicle owners to travel across national highways without paying toll on every journey, by purchasing a single pass worth ₹3,000 that covers up to 200 toll crossings or one full year of usage, whichever comes first.

To understand the real value of this scheme, let’s take a look at some popular travel routes and analyze how much money frequent travelers could potentially save.

On the Delhi-Jaipur route, where travelers cross four major toll plazas Ghamroj, Hilalpur, Bhandaraj, and Rajadhok — the one-way toll costs ₹322 and the round-trip totals ₹644; if a person travels just twice a month, they will make 24 round trips in a year, which would normally cost ₹15,456, but with the annual FASTag pass costing only ₹3,000, the total savings amount to ₹12,456.

Similarly, on the Delhi-Chandigarh route, which includes tolls at Murthal, Panipat, Gharaunda, and Ambala, the one-way toll is ₹405 and round-trip comes to ₹810; two round trips per month over a year would total ₹19,440 in toll charges, but with the FASTag pass, travelers spend only ₹3,000, leading to a significant saving of ₹16,440.

For those traveling on the Delhi-Mumbai route one of the longest and most toll-heavy in the country which includes 12 to 15 toll plazas such as Kherki Daula, Kishangarh, Ahmedabad Ring Road, Surat, Vapi, and Dahisar, the one-way toll is approximately ₹1,900 and a round-trip costs ₹3,800, meaning the cost of just one return trip already exceeds the price of the annual pass, making it a highly cost-effective option for anyone who drives this route more than once a year.

The biggest advantage of the FASTag Annual Pass is that it allows up to 200 toll crossings for just ₹3,000, which, when calculated against the average toll cost per trip, can easily result in savings ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 annually, making it an excellent option especially for frequent highway travelers, regular commuters, and weekend road trippers who seek a hassle-free, economical way to navigate national highways.
