New Delhi, December 26, 2024:
The National Journalists’ Association has raised alarm over the increasing attacks on journalists across the country, urging immediate government action to implement a journalist safety law. At a high-profile meeting held at the INS Conference Hall in Delhi, media professionals and dignitaries emphasized the crucial link between press freedom and democracy.
Dr. Pavit Mohan Samantaray, National President of the National Journalists’ Federation, underscored the gravity of the issue, stating, “The safety of journalists is essential for preserving democracy. When journalists are threatened, it silences the voice of the people.”
The event saw participation from key figures, including BJP MP Naresh Bansal, Supreme Court Advocate Dr. Mallika Gautam, and Arun Goyal, Chairman of IFSMN, who collectively called for stronger protections for media professionals. Prominent journalists like Ajit Dabhai and Tabjeel Ahmed also lent their voices to the cause, urging unity against growing threats to press freedom.
