Complaint has been filed against social media influencers for being ‘abusive’ slurs on “India’s Got Latent”
10th February 2025, Monday
Complaint was filed against popular social media influencers Ranveer Allahbadia (a.k.a. ‘BeerBiceps’), Apoorva Mukhija (‘The Rebel Kid’), and comedian Samay Raina over imprudent abusive language on the show, ‘India’s Got Latent’.
The complaint filed with Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission against the show organizers reads, “The appropriate action should be taken against all accused.”

Outrage on Social Media
The controversy does not seem to die down since Allahbadia has been reported as having posed a rather inappropriate ‘would you rather’ keeping in mind the intimate relationships between a contestant’s parents. It went viral and received lewd trolls from all corners of the internet.
“People show their true colours on shows like these. Nothing Ranveer has done has been something he is not comfortable doing; just that today, his mask has slipped, and people can see his real face,” wrote one user.
“This is neither comedy nor adult humour; it is the sickest kind of perversion!!” the other commented.
Political Reactions
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate condemned the comment made by Allahbadia saying it is “pervert”. She elaborated, “This is not creative. This is pervert. We cannot normalize such behavior as cool. An applause to such sick comment should worry all of us.”
On being asked about the controversy, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis replied: “I have come to know about it, but have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way. Everyone has freedom of speech but that freedom ends where it affects the rights of others.”

Creators Stay Silent
So far, neither Ranveer Allahbadia nor other creators involved in the episode have yet made any public statements in relation to the backlash.
Ranveer Allahbadia’s Previous Recognition
Ironically, Allahbadia received the honour ‘Disruptor of the Year’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the National Creators Award last year in Bharat Mandapam, Delhi.
The event has made space for a larger argument about the accountability of digital influencers and the thin line between comedy and offensive content. It is expected that the investigation into the complaint will be taken further.
