New Delhi: On July 23, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will unveil the full Budget for 2024. This follows the Interim Union Budget presented on February 1. The budget session for the fiscal year 2024-2025 is set to take place from July 22 to August 12, 2024. This upcoming presentation will mark a significant milestone for Sitharaman, as she will exceed the record of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who delivered five annual budgets and one interim budget between 1959 and 1964. This will be seventh budget address by Nirmala Sitharaman.
Continuing the trend of recent years, the 2024 Budget will be entirely paperless. The interim budget, presented on February 1, covered the financial needs of the interim period until the formation of a new government following the Lok Sabha elections. The full budget will now be presented by the newly formed government on Tuesday, July 23.
Timing of Budget 2024 Presentation:
Finance Minister Sitharaman is scheduled to commence her budget speech at 11:00 AM in the Lok Sabha. The length of the speech can vary, depending on the complexity and content of the budget. Notably, her 2020 budget speech was the longest, lasting 2 hours and 40 minutes, while her shortest, the 2024 Interim Budget speech, was wrapped up in just 56 minutes.
