Controversy Erupts Over UPSC Tutor Shubhra Ranjan’s Viral Video

New Delhi: As the nation mourns the recent loss of three IAS and Civil Services students in Delhi, a fresh controversy has surfaced, stirring emotions and igniting debates.

Shubhra Ranjan, a well known Civil Service tutor, finds herself at center of this storm after a video of her lecture, comparing Mughal emperor Akbar to the Hindu deity Shri Lord Rama, went viral. In the video, Ranjan is reported to have remarked that Ram “does not show unlimited power,” a statement that has sparked a significant backlash. Critics are questioning how historical and religious figures are depicted in educational settings.

Responding to the uproar, Shubhra Ranjan issued a statement on July 27, expressing regret and clarifying her intentions. She emphasized that her remarks were not meant to offend any community.

Shubhra Ranjan’s Clarification

“I urge you to watch the entire lecture to understand that my point was to illustrate that Prabhu Sri Ram’s reign was an exemplary state,” Ranjan stated, explaining that her comments were part of a broader comparative analysis.

She encouraged viewers to consider the full context of the lecture for a more accurate understanding.

Shubhra Ranjan is a distinguished UPSC instructor, widely known for her popular YouTube channel, where she regularly posts lectures for UPSC, IAS, and Civil Services aspirants. Among her notable students is IAS topper Tina Dabi, who achieved the first rank in the 2015 batch.
