CUET UG 2024: Why Was the Undergraduate Entrance Exam Delayed in Delhi?

New Delhi:
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has rescheduled the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET UG) in Delhi. Initially set for May 15, the exam will now take place on May 29. The postponement is due to “unavoidable reasons,” as stated by the agency.

While the NTA hasn’t officially disclosed the reason behind the delay, reports suggest it’s related to the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha election. The decision to reschedule the exam in Delhi was necessary due to insufficient infrastructure to accommodate the large number of aspirants.

Revised admit cards will be issued to candidates at a later date by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
“All concerned candidates and stakeholders are informed that, due to unavoidable circumstances, the test papers (Chemistry – 306, Biology – 304, English – 101, and General Test – 501) which were initially scheduled for May 15, 2024, are postponed for candidates appearing in centers across Delhi only,” stated the NTA.

Furthermore, the NTA clarified that the exam will proceed as planned in all other cities nationwide, including Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Noida, as well as overseas. Examinations on other dates (May 16, 17, and 18) at all centers, including those in Delhi, will proceed as scheduled, the NTA added.
