DJ Shot Dead at Ranchi Bar; Shooter Arrested in Gaya

In a shocking incident, a DJ was shot dead at point-blank range with a rifle following a dispute with a group of customers at a bar in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, in the early hours of Monday (May 27).

The brazen shooting was captured on CCTV cameras at the venue, and the footage has since gone viral on social media. The video shows a masked assailant, wearing only shorts, approaching the victim, DJ Sandeep, and shooting him at point-blank range before walking away casually.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 1 AM on Sunday night at the Extreme Sports Bar in Ranchi. A group of 4-5 men had a verbal altercation with DJ Sandeep and the bar staff over the music selection. Although the men initially left the bar after the disagreement seemed resolved, they returned after closing time, and one of them fatally shot DJ Sandeep.

Sandeep Pramanik, a resident of West Bengal, was shot in the chest and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police reported.

A senior official stated that the police were informed about the shooting and sent the victim’s body for a post-mortem examination.

Shooter Arrested

The police identified and arrested the shooter as Abhishek Singh, a local garage owner. Singh was apprehended in Gaya, Bihar. Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kumar Sinha told PTI news agency that Singh would be brought to Ranchi for a detailed interrogation to determine the exact cause of the shooting.

SSP Sinha said that the police launched an investigation immediately after the incident. “During the investigation, we found the accused was in Gaya, Bihar. A team was sent, and the accused was arrested today,” he said.

Sinha added that the shooter was intoxicated at the time of the crime. “The video footage shows him alone. We need to determine whether he acted alone or if others were involved,” the SSP stated.

The police have recovered a vehicle belonging to the suspect and are analyzing the CCTV footage from the bar. Further investigation is ongoing.
