
DME Media School, in collaboration with its Training and Placement Cell, hosted the MediaConnect HR Conclave 2025, focusing on the theme “Hiring Landscape in the Age of AI.” The event brought together HR leaders and media professionals to discuss AI’s impact on recruitment and the future workforce in the media industry.
Ms. Garima Jain, Co-Convenor of MediaConnect, opened the session by welcoming the esteemed guests and panelists. Dr. Parul Mehra, Head of DME Media School, delivered the opening address, highlighting the role of HR in shaping industry professionals. She highlighted that DME Media School not only imparts technical expertise but also instills ethical values and industry principles, preparing students to face real-world challenges.
The interactive session focused on the integration of AI in various media functions, particularly in hiring, content creation, and public relations. The panelists shared insights on how AI is reshaping recruitment processes and enhancing operational efficiency. However, they emphasized that AI should serve as a supporting tool rather than a complete replacement for human expertise.
Sharing industry insights Ms. Shweta Singh, Senior Manager HR, PTI stated that 64% of companies utilize AI for recruitment, but 24% believe AI may cause job displacement. She also addressed ethical concerns, stressing that AI-generated scripts in journalism are unreliable, and original reporting remains essential.
Students actively engaged with the panelists, seeking guidance on career paths, industry challenges, and the importance of technical and practical skills.
Encouraging the students to embrace challenges, Mr. Manoj Tibrewal Akash Founder & Editor-in-Chief, of Dynamite News, urged students to specialize in one domain while gaining interdisciplinary knowledge to stay relevant in the industry. He also mentioned that AI is important, but more important than that is our behavioral skills.
Ms. Aditi Malhotra, Senior Manager HR, Fever FM mentioned that Fever FM is no longer limited to radio but has expanded into podcasts, digital platforms, and YouTube channels. She emphasized that media professionals must be multi-skilled, and capable of creating, editing, and packaging content independently.
Mr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Managing Director, PR Guru highlighted the need for originality, SEO strategies, and strong writing skills in public relations and warned against excessive reliance on AI.
The session included an engaging Q&A where students sought career advice. Panelists recommended honing technical skills, improving communication, and building professional networks.
The conclave concluded with Ms. Garima Jain’s closing remarks, emphasizing discipline, punctuality, and continuous learning. Mr. Vishal Sahai, Convenor, Placement Cell, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the panelists and attendees for their valuable contributions.
