Dr. K. A. Paul and Tamil Nadu CM M. K. Stalin have joined forces against the BJP’s proposed delimitation plan, calling it an attack on democracy and an attempt to weaken South India’s political representation. They are urging opposition leaders to unite before it’s too late.
The plan would increase parliamentary seats in North India while reducing representation from the South, despite its major contributions to economic growth and development. Dr. Paul slammed the move as a “weapon to silence Southern states” and a punishment for their success in population control. “This is not delimitation; this is discrimination,” he stated.
The proposed changes would severely impact states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, which contribute significantly to India’s GDP but face reduced influence in Parliament. “Why should states that have excelled in governance be punished?” Dr. Paul questioned.
He accused the BJP of using delimitation to establish one-party rule. “The Modi regime is using this to permanently weaken opposition parties,” he said, warning that India risks becoming a rubber-stamp democracy. He urged all 18 opposition parties to act now. “If we do not resist, India will soon resemble China or Russia.”
Dr. Paul criticized the BJP for neglecting urgent national issues like unemployment and poverty. “Instead of generating jobs and reducing inequality, the government is manipulating the system to secure absolute power,” he said.
Beyond opposing delimitation, Dr. Paul and Stalin pledged to focus on employment, industrialization, and poverty eradication. “History shows even a non-political figure like N. T. Rama Rao could shift power with just 30 MPs. If we unite, we can send 42 MPs from Telugu states alone and counter BJP’s authoritarianism,” he added.
Dr. Paul called on citizens and leaders to defend democracy. “This is about our nation’s future. If we don’t fight now, there may be no democracy left to fight for.”
