Dr. K. A. Paul Demands Winter Parliament Shift to Hyderabad
New Delhi, December 2, 2024:
Dr. K. A. Paul, President of the Praja Shanti Party and founder of the Global Peace Initiative, addressed a significant press conference today at Andhra Bhavan, New Delhi. With a call for unity among Telugu-speaking families and equitable governance for South India, Dr. Paul highlighted critical issues such as granting Special Status to Andhra Pradesh, safeguarding the Vizag Steel Plant, and a visionary proposal to relocate the Winter Parliament session to Hyderabad.
In his speech, Dr. Paul addressed concerns about the socio-political challenges facing the Telugu community, national governance, and India’s image globally.
Dr. K. A. Paul strongly condemned the recent violence targeting Hindus in Bangladesh, emphasizing the global responsibility to protect vulnerable communities and foster harmony. He revealed that he had appealed to U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres for immediate intervention to address the escalating tensions. Urging Prime Minister Modi to take swift action, Dr. Paul said, “I humbly request Prime Minister Modi to personally visit Bangladesh or send the Foreign Minister to stop the violence. If required, I am ready to visit and mediate peace.” Highlighting his commitment to equality, he stressed the importance of unity, respect for diverse beliefs, and preserving human dignity, regardless of whether Hindus in Bangladesh or Muslims elsewhere are under attack.
Proposal to Shift the Winter Parliament Session to Hyderabad
Dr. K. A. Paul questioned the practicality of holding Parliament sessions in Delhi, given its hazardous air pollution levels, and proposed relocating the winter session to Hyderabad. Emphasizing the health and image concerns, he remarked, “The current air quality in Delhi is not only harming public health but also damaging India’s global image.” Highlighting Hyderabad’s strategic advantages, he pointed out its seamless connectivity—just 40–45 minutes from cities like Mumbai and Chennai, and two hours from Delhi—arguing that such a move would benefit all regions while easing Delhi’s pollution crisis. Stressing the importance of regional equity, Dr. Paul said, “Justice for South Indians is non-negotiable. Neglecting our needs could push leaders to demand greater autonomy.”
Demand for Justice to Telugu States
Dr. K. A. Paul passionately criticized successive governments for failing to fulfill their promises to Andhra Pradesh and its people, highlighting the ignored demand for Special Status, which has left millions of Telugu citizens disillusioned. He also condemned the ongoing sale of the Vizag Steel Plant, accusing leaders like Pawan Kalyan and Chandrababu Naidu of abandoning their earlier positions for political gain. Additionally, Dr. Paul criticized Pawan Kalyan for aligning with the BJP and prioritizing personal benefits, including securing political positions for his family members, over the welfare of the 15 crore Telugu people.
Call for Telugu Unity and a Vision for Equality
Dr. K. A. Paul emphasized the importance of solidarity among Telugu families to protect their heritage and fight for justice, stating, “Telangana people fought for their state, and I stood by them. Let us not be forced to fight for a separate country. The time has come for South Indians to demand equal respect and representation.” He also proposed the construction of a new Parliament building in Hyderabad, citing its central location and accessibility as key factors that would benefit the entire nation.
Dr. Paul reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for the rights of Telugu-speaking people and ensuring equitable governance for all regions. With a powerful blend of experience, moral conviction, and an unwavering belief in justice, he called on state and central governments to act immediately to address these concerns, warning against the long-term implications of neglecting regional voices.
