The suspense over who will be the next CM of Maharashtra is most likely to end as the BJP may choose the NEXT CM in today’s party meeting at Vidhan Bhawan.
The meeting is set for Wednesday morning, one day after Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, the state’s Caretaker Chief Minister, ultimately decided to accept the position of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister on Tuesday.

The Shiv Sena, NCP, and BJP, who are supporters of Mahayuti, may, however, argue over who gets what in the upcoming portfolio fight. The Shinde Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP are both likely to be appointed as deputy chief ministers.
A standoff between the Mahayuti allies over the top position may have ended Tuesday night when BJP leader and probable chief minister-elect Devendra Fadnavis visits Shinde at his home in Varsha, Mumbai. This was the first time the two leaders had met in person since they and NCP Chief Ajit Pawar met with the top BJP leadership in Delhi last week.

Shinde’s abrupt “illness” and his unexpected trip to his birthplace of Satara last week sparked concerns, particularly in light of his discussions with the BJP leadership in Delhi. Over the weekend, a crucial Mahayuti meeting to finalise a power-sharing agreement was put on hold by his sudden departure.
