Fans call ‘publicity stunt’ as Amir Khan posted on ‘Operation Sindoor’ ahead of Sitaare Zameen Par trailer launch

Aamir Khan faces backlash for Social media post on ‘Operation Sindoor’ as actor breaks silence after weeks of quiet
Aamir Khan has come under fire on social media after his production house posted a tribute to the Indian armed forces just hours before releasing the trailer for his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. The post, shared on May 13 by Aamir Khan Productions on X (formerly Twitter), praised the bravery of soldiers involved in Operation Sindoor and acknowledged the Prime Minister’s leadership.
The message read:
“Salute to the heroes of Operation Sindoor. Heartfelt gratitude to our armed forces for their courage, bravery, and unwavering commitment to the security of our nation. Thank you to the Honourable Prime Minister for his leadership and determination. Jai Hind.”
While the message itself was respectful, its timing has raised eyebrows. Critics on social media were quick to question whether the tribute was genuine or a promotional tactic tied to the trailer launch.

“Wasn’t that a bit too convenient?” asked one user. “Looks more like marketing than patriotism.” Another commented, “Where was this energy when the Pahalgam attack happened? Celebs remember patriotism only before a film release.”
Many users pointed out that Aamir had remained silent after the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 civilians were killed. The Indian military responded with targeted strikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7, under what was named Operation Sindoor. Several Bollywood figures had voiced support for the armed forces after the strikes, but Aamir chose not to comment at the time.
Now, with his film Sitaare Zameen Par nearing release, users accused him of trying to align with public sentiment for publicity. Some even suggested that emotional tributes from celebrities often “coincidentally” appear just before a trailer drop or film launch.
