“Almost Walked Away from Stolen” – Abhishek Banerjee Opens Up About Creative Clash with Producer

Actor Abhishek Banerjee, currently in the spotlight for his gripping performance in the film Stolen, recently made a candid revelation about behind-the-scenes tensions during its production. While the film has received critical acclaim, Abhishek disclosed that he once considered quitting the project due to a serious disagreement with the producer.

Speaking about his experience, Abhishek said he instantly connected with the script and his character but wanted the emotional depth of the role to be explored more thoroughly. “I’m an actor who approaches every role with honesty and belief. If I don’t feel that inner connection, I can’t do justice to the part,” he explained.

Besides acting, Abhishek also served as an executive producer on Stolen. He revealed that early on, creative differences with producer Gaurav Dhingra led to intense arguments. “There were several heated discussions between us. I wanted everything to be perfect before the camera rolled—not to cause trouble, but to ensure we made a great film,” he shared.

Gaurav Dhingra eventually took a plane to Delhi to have a face-to-face meeting with Abhishek. The two had a long conversation, during which Gaurav listened to Abhishek’s concerns and addressed them. This gesture restored Abhishek’s confidence in the project. “It wasn’t an ego clash it was about the shared goal of creating quality cinema. I’m grateful Gaurav understood my perspective and gave the film a fresh direction,” Abhishek said.

Just two days after their conversation, the film’s shooting began, and the results, as Abhishek proudly stated, are now winning over audiences.

Stolen is directed by Karan Tejpal and stars Abhishek Banerjee alongside Shubham Vardhan, Mia Melzar, and Harish Khanna. You can now watch the suspenseful drama on Prime Video.
