Injury, Laughter, and Lights: The Story Behind Sanya Malhotra’s ‘Morni Banke’

Mumbai: Actress Sanya Malhotra recently shared an interesting anecdote related to the popular song ‘Morni Banke’ from her 2018 hit film Badhaai Ho. Speaking in choreographer-director Farah Khan’s YouTube vlog, Sanya revealed that she was seriously injured during the filming of the song.
She explained that she had sustained an injury while shooting for the film Pataakha, and had stitches on her arm. Despite the fresh wound, she went ahead and completed the shoot for Morni Banke. Recalling the incident with a laugh, she said, “The floor was polished with oil to make it look good on screen. As soon as the line ‘Catwalk wali baby hai teri chaal’ came up, I slipped and fell while doing the step.”
Sanya had even shared the funny video on social media, showing herself laughing after the fall. Farah Khan humorously commented, “Any film in which the heroine falls becomes a hit,” citing a scene from Kal Ho Naa Ho as an example.
During the vlog, Farah also discussed Sanya’s 2023 film Mrs. and reflected on her career so far. Sanya mentioned that she has worked in around 14-15 films over the past nine years.

When asked if she had attended any acting school or formal training, Sanya said she entered the industry through auditions without any formal education in acting. Interestingly, she added that her first meeting in the industry was with Farah Khan herself.
The vlog featured the two enjoying a burrito bowl while sharing memories about food, films, and Sanya’s journey in the industry.
