National Awards: Allu Arjun’s Victory as Best Actor Sparks Debate Among Vicky Kaushal’s Supporters

No disrespect intended towards Allu Arjun or his fans, but the National Award for Best Actor received by the star of “Pushpa” has stirred up discussions on social media. Allu Arjun’s portrayal as the gangster Pushpa was undoubtedly a blockbuster, but the question arises: was it truly deserving of a National Award? The online community appears divided on this matter, with many suggesting that Vicky Kaushal’s performance in “Sardar Udham” was of a higher caliber. “Sardar Udham,” which depicts the life of freedom fighter Udham Singh, secured five National Awards, including the Best Hindi Film category. Vicky, a previous recipient of the National Award for Best Actor, received unanimous acclaim for his performance upon the film’s release. However, the National Award jury, led by Ketan Mehta, believed that Allu Arjun was more fitting for the honor.
On the platform now known as X (previously Twitter), there is a noticeable amount of outrage as both Vicky Kaushal and Allu Arjun are trending topics. Vicky’s performance has been hailed as a “masterclass” and “timeless.”
One post pointed out that last year’s winners for Best Actor, Suriya in “Jai Bheem” and Anupam Kher in “The Kashmir Files,” were more deserving of the National Award.
Another post raised concerns about the integrity of the National Awards, suggesting that their credibility has been compromised.
Three years ago, actor Vicky Kaushal shared the National Award for Best Actor with Ayushmann Khurrana. They were recognized for their roles in “Uri: The Surgical Strike” and “Andhadhun,” respectively.
