Shanaya Kapoor trolled for dance debut in music video ‘Vibe’

Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, has made her first appearance on screen not with a film as expected, but in a dance-based music video titled “Vibe”, alongside singer Guru Randhawa and rapper French Montana. While the video marks her first official performance, it has drawn mixed reactions from viewers online, especially regarding her dance performance and expressions.

Shanaya has been in the public eye for a while, not just as part of the Kapoor family but also through her association with Suhana Khan and Ananya Panday, who began their acting careers earlier. The teaser of her debut film “Tu Ya Main”, which was released in March, was met with positive curiosity, but the vibe has now placed her performance under direct scrutiny.

On social media, some comments questioned her readiness, with one user writing, “What even is that step? It looks like a workout,” while another remarked, “She and Suhana can compete for the worst dance award.” A few pointed out the lack of expression, with one comment reading, “not a single expression. Girl, please quit and retire,” although others suggested she may improve with more experience and professional training.

Composed by JSL and DJ Shadow, Vibe features an energetic blend of booming beats, infectious hooks, and a polished cross-cultural sound engineered for wide appeal, from house parties to high-end playlists. It’s the kind of slick production designed to resonate across continents, but much of that effort has been overshadowed by the relentless spotlight on Shanaya’s every step, smile, or lack thereof..
