Old-School Romance Returns – Audiences applaud the film’s refreshing take on classic Bollywood love.

New Delhi , August 29, 2025

Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s much-anticipated film Param Sundari, directed by Tushar Jalota, released in theatres on Friday and has already sparked a flurry of reactions on social media. Marking the first on-screen collaboration between the two stars, the romantic drama has been described by fans as a “quintessential Hindi romantic film” that blends love, music, family emotions, and cultural traditions into a heartfelt narrative.

Several moviegoers took to X (formerly Twitter) to shower praise on the film, particularly highlighting the chemistry between Sidharth and Janhvi. Many described their pairing as refreshing, charming, and a highlight of the movie. One fan called it “the biggest love story of the year,” while another wrote, “Param Sundari is the romcom of the year in Bollywood.” Audiences were also moved by the film’s soundtrack, particularly Sonu Nigam’s moving song Pardesiya, which was described as calming and unforgettable in multiple tweets.

Beyond the romance, fans admired the cultural detailing woven into the story. From Janhvi’s sarees to the representation of North and South Indian traditions, the film was praised for being a vibrant, feel-good watch. A viewer commented that it was “pure magic” and applauded the way it brought back “old-school Bollywood romance with a refreshing twist.” Another fan added, “Param Sundari is the kind of film that leaves you smiling long after it ends,” calling Janhvi’s portrayal of Sundari captivating and Sidharth’s performance equally engaging.

However, not all reviews were glowing. A section of viewers criticized the movie for its predictable storyline and lack of novelty. Some dismissed it as repetitive, with comments like “terrible, terrible movie” and “same old, nothing new.” A few even questioned its existence after comparisons with Chennai Express. Yet, others felt that despite its formulaic nature, the film worked because of its “stupidly cute” execution, making it a fun watch for teenagers and fans of lighthearted romances.

Param Sundari tells the story of a Punjabi boy from Delhi, played by Sidharth, who falls in love with Sundari, a girl from Kerala portrayed by Janhvi. With Sanjay Kapoor and Manjot Singh in prominent roles, the film combines cultural diversity, heartfelt performances, and Bollywood’s signature romance, leaving audiences divided but talking.
