New Delhi: 4 April 2024

Gourav Vallabh left the Congress a few hours ago, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s direction, and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. In a two-page letter of resignation, Mr. Vallabh expressed his dissatisfaction with the party’s lackluster direction.

“I cannot consistently scream anti-Sanatan slogans or treat wealth producers badly. As a result, I give up my primary party membership and all of my posts,” Mr. Vallabh declared.

Former Congress spokesperson Mr. Vallabh, who was frequently featured on television networks, stated that he disagreed with a number of the party’s positions.

“I am uncomfortable with the directionless way, in which the Congress Party is moving forward today,” the politician stated in his letter.

In 2019, Mr. Vallabh conducted his first poll from Jamshedpur East in Jharkhand. With over 18,000 votes, he finished third behind Saryu Roy and the then-chief minister, Raghubar Das.

In 2023, he ran for the Rajasthan assembly seat from the Udaipur constituency. Nevertheless, he was defeated by the BJP candidate by about 32,000 votes.

Only one day has passed since boxer Vijender Singh left the Congress and joined the BJP, when the swap occurred.

Beginning on April 11, there will be seven phases to the Lok Sabha election voting process. The votes will be tallied on June 4.
