India is taking part in the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which began on March 10, 2025, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The session is focused on reviewing global progress on gender equality and marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a key international commitment to women’s rights.
Leading the Indian delegation, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annapurna Devi, addressed the Ministerial Forum, discussing India’s efforts in promoting gender equality.

The Minister spoke about India’s initiatives in health, nutrition, education, and economic opportunities, highlighting the impact of government programs in bridging gender gaps. She also stressed the importance of effective implementation to ensure that women and children can fully access their rights and benefits.
The CSW session, which runs until March 21, 2025, brings together UN member states, policymakers, private sector leaders, and civil society organizations to assess progress on gender equality and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
