In collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, the Department of Legal Affairs organized a blood donation camp at Shastri Bhawan ahead of World Blood Donor Day, promoting voluntary blood donation as a shared social responsibility.

New Delhi: In a step beyond its regular administrative role, the Department of Legal Affairs, under the Ministry of Law and Justice, organised a blood donation camp at Shastri Bhawan on Wednesday. The initiative, held in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, precedes World Blood Donor Day, observed globally on June 14.

Law Secretary Dr. Anju Rathi Rana visited the camp and urged officials and staff to view blood donation not just as an occasional good deed, but as an ongoing social duty. The camp saw active participation from senior officers, staff members, and notably, a large number of women employees.

Aligned with this year’s global theme — “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives” — the event highlighted the vital role voluntary blood donation plays in supporting public health infrastructure.

More than just a symbolic gesture, the department’s effort added directly to the national blood bank, setting an example for how government institutions can contribute tangibly to social welfare.

By hosting the drive, the Department of Legal Affairs reinforced the message that public service extends beyond policy and legislation — it includes standing up for causes that touch lives in immediate and lasting ways.
