The Role of a Supportive Partner During a Health Crisis
According to the experts, a supportive partner is vital during a struggle like cancer; as Dr. Tirathram Kaushik, a consultant oncosurgeon at Wockhardt Hospitals, remarked, “The presence of a partner can reduce the feelings of isolation and the fear of abandonment.” Anything from small gestures-hand-holding to helping with daily chores to doing a few walking rounds-takes out the bulk of discomfort from the patient’s life.
According to Dr. Kaushik, emotional stability, relaxation techniques, and self-praise for the small victories are key to maintaining a sense of hope and positivity within the patient. Dr. Kamna Chhibber, another clinical psychologist, added that long-term consistent support needs to be provided rather than just emergency help, as this will ensure the effective coping of a patient throughout his entire life battle.
The story of Hina Khan is an inspiring reminder that love, empathy, and fidelity can help win even the most challenging war. Rocky Jaiswal’s baby steps showed the magnificence of having a compassionate partner during life’s toughest struggles.
