Ind vs Pak clash in Asia Cup 2025: schedule, squad updates & key matches

Cricket’s fiercest rivalry is set to ignite once again as India and Pakistan gear up for multiple thrilling encounters in 2025. Their latest battle in the ICC Champions Trophy saw India dominate, leaving fans hungry for another high-stakes showdown.

The Asia Cup 2025, scheduled for September, promises more action-packed clashes. According to a CricBuzz report, the tournament will feature eight teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Hong Kong, and Nepal. The teams will be divided into two groups, with the top two from each advancing to the Super 4 stage. India and Pakistan are expected to be in the same group, ensuring at least one face-off. If both teams progress further, they could meet again in the Super 4s and even the final.

Unlike the Champions Trophy, the Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the T20 format, prompting India to bring in a fresh squad. With the 2026 T20 World Cup on the horizon, India is likely to field a powerful team to fine-tune its preparations.

Suryakumar Yadav is expected to lead the charge, while Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Yashasvi Jaiswal could return to the T20I setup. Rising stars like Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh are strong contenders. Sanju Samson’s selection may depend on his IPL form, given the competition for spots.

Hardik Pandya is set to be the key fast-bowling all-rounder, while Axar Patel and Washington Sundar bolster the spin department. India may favor a spin-heavy attack, featuring Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy. The pace attack is expected to be led by Jasprit Bumrah, alongside Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Mohammed Shami.
