Furore Over Leader’s Ill-Treatment at Constitution Club: Club Served ₹2,500 Crore Legal Notice, Demand for Independent Administrator

Legal Notice Issued on Behalf of Anshuman Joshi, Citing Insult to Democracy and Institutional Dignity

An uproar has erupted in political and social circles after prominent political figure Anshuman Joshi was allegedly subjected to disrespectful treatment at the Constitution Club of India. On behalf of Joshi, advocate Deepak Raj Singh has dispatched a stringent legal notice to the Club’s Governing Council, demanding ₹2,500 crore in compensation and calling for the appointment of an independent administrator. The notice bears the date June 1, 2025.

Joshi’s Visit to the Club Turns Contentious

According to the notice, on May 29, 2025, Anshuman Joshi arrived at the Constitution Club to attend a formal meeting alongside Members of Parliament, senior political leaders, and business delegates. The event—organized under the banner of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Vikas Ka Vision” (Vision of Development)—was intended to focus on issues related to national progress. However, upon arrival, Joshi and his associates were allegedly met with insulting and threatening behavior from Club staff.

Staff Accused of Intimidation and Disrespect

The legal notice alleges that during the proceedings, Club Manager Sanjay Singh, along with attendant Arvind Kumar, security guard Anil Kumar (appointed by Seminal Securities), and other employees, treated Joshi and his party discourteously. The notice contends that these staff members not only showed blatant disrespect but also used aggressive, threatening language in front of all present—conduct that, according to the notice, has severely damaged Joshi’s reputation.

Disregard for Parliamentary Guests’ Pleas

The notice further states that despite multiple appeals from sitting MPs and distinguished guests for the staff to maintain decorum, the abusive behavior persisted unabated. Advocate Singh characterizes this conduct as a violation of democratic norms and institutional dignity, labeling it a “systematic failure” on the part of the Club’s administration.

Severe Mental Distress and Public Humiliation

The notice argues that this incident has inflicted substantial harm on Joshi’s public image. It holds the Constitution Club and its staff accountable for the damage to his honor, reputation, and mental well-being. In the notice, the lawyer describes the episode as “serious defamation, mental harassment, and professional image damage.”

Questioning the Club’s Administrative Oversight

Beyond detailing the mistreatment, the notice criticizes the administrative mechanisms at the Constitution Club, asserting that this was not an isolated breach of etiquette but indicative of systemic flaws, misuse of authority, and a lack of accountability. In response, the notice explicitly demands the immediate appointment of an independent administrator to ensure transparency and responsibility in the Club’s operations.

Seven-Day Ultimatum: Apology or Legal Action

The Club has been given a seven-day deadline to issue a public apology to Mr. Joshi and to arrange for ₹2,500 crore in damages. Failing compliance, the notice warns, legal proceedings—both civil and criminal—will be initiated against the Club and involved employees under the BNSS 2023 Act, tort law, and other relevant statutes.

Club’s Silence Invites Scrutiny

To date, the Constitution Club has not released any official statement regarding the matter. Meanwhile, the controversy is rapidly gaining traction in political and legal circles. Questions are being raised about the accountability mechanisms within such a prestigious institution: Is it acceptable for VIPs to endure such treatment? Is this a symptom of broader institutional decay? Observers suggest that this incident is not merely a personal affront to one individual but also a test of the Club’s commitment to democratic values and institutional accountability. The coming days may well see this dispute intensify.
