Kalyan Kumar Shaw of Tatanagar Railway Civil Defence Earns National Acclaim at NDRF Training

Secures Second Rank in All-India ‘Flood & Cyclone Response Course’; Recognized for Excellence in Disaster Preparedness

Kalyan Kumar Shaw, a dedicated member of the Tatanagar Railway Civil Defence team, has earned national recognition by securing the second position in the prestigious ‘Flood and Cyclone Response Course’ conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Academy in Nagpur.

The five-week specialized training program brought together 32 participants from across India, including personnel from the Civil Defence, Home Guards, State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF), and Railway Protection Force (RPF). The course focused on enhancing advanced skills for disaster response, with modules covering submerged structure rescues, rapid deployment techniques, and evacuation protocols during natural calamities such as floods and cyclones.
Shaw performed exceptionally across all components—written, practical, and oral—earning him the second-highest rank nationwide. His achievement was formally recognized with a certificate of merit presented by DIG Dr. Hari Om Gandhi of the NDRF.
Tatanagar Civil Defence Inspector Mr. Santosh Kumar congratulated Shaw on the achievement, stating:
“Personnel like Kalyan Shaw are the backbone of our emergency response system. His success is not only a personal triumph but also a reflection of our unit’s commitment to national resilience. We will continue to invest in specialized training to enhance our preparedness.”
