Even Lord Ganesha Comes from Abroad with Small Eyes: PM Modi’s Subtle Hint on Why We Must Use Indigenous Products

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a public meeting in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, urged the people of India to stop purchasing foreign products and stressed the importance of self-reliance. Without directly naming China, he sent a strong message highlighting why Indians should prefer domestic goods.

Operation Sindoor: From Military Might to People’s Power

Speaking on the 20th anniversary of the Gujarat Urban Development Scheme, Modi recalled that Operation Sindoor initially began as a military operation. Now, it must advance with the strength of the people. By this, he meant that every citizen should become an active partner in India’s progress. Modi declared a firm resolve that by 2047 — the centenary year of India’s independence — India’s economy should rise from the fourth to the third largest in the world by completely eliminating dependence on foreign goods.

He urged village-level traders to take an oath not to sell foreign products, no matter the profit margin. Pointing out the irony, Modi remarked that even Lord Ganesha idols sometimes come from abroad — “with small eyes” that don’t even open properly. He also noted that festival items like colors and water guns are often imported.

A Clear Message to China Without Naming It

PM Modi’s reference was a clear indirect warning to China, whose products flood Indian markets especially during the festive season. He urged citizens to take personal responsibility in what he called Operation Sindoor, appealing to them to check their homes and list all foreign-made items used in daily life. From hairpins to toothpicks, foreign products have silently become part of households, often unnoticed.

He emphasized that protecting and building the nation is not just the duty of soldiers but also a responsibility shared by all 1.4 billion Indians.

From Dependence to Pride in “Made in India”

Modi recalled how 20-25 years ago, Indians abroad would send lists asking for specific products to be brought from India. Today, visitors to India are told not to bring anything because everything is available domestically. He said that Indians must take pride in “Made in India” products. While Operation Sindoor began as a military mission, it now needs to succeed through collective public effort.

Honoring the Bravery of Indian Armed Forces in Operation Sindoor

The Prime Minister praised the courage of the Indian Army during Operation Sindoor. He called India a land of heroes and stated that what had previously been called a “proxy war” can no longer be described as such, following the decisive military action on May 6. Within just 22 minutes, nine terrorist camps were identified and destroyed, with the entire operation conducted openly on camera, eliminating any doubts or demands for proof at home.

He added that the terrorists killed that night received state honors and military salutes at their funerals in Pakistan, proving that these were not proxy fighters but part of a deliberate war strategy by Pakistan. Modi warned that India’s response would be equally strong and decisive.
