New Delhi, November 13

To ensure safety during the grand Dev Deepawali festival, Varanasi has been declared a “no-fly” zone, police announced on Wednesday. The restrictions, effective from midnight on November 12 until November 16, ban drones, kites, balloons, and paragliders without permission.

This decision, under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, aims to secure the city as lakhs of devotees, locals, and VIPs gather to celebrate. “These measures will help manage the crowds and ensure safety,” stated the police order.

Dev Deepawali, celebrated 15 days after Diwali, lights up Varanasi’s Ghats, honoring Lord Shiva’s victory over the demon Tripurasura. With strict security in place, the festival promises a beautiful yet safe experience for all.
