New Delhi: In response to the escalating violence in Kenya over proposed tax increases, India has advised its citizens in the country to remain extremely cautious and limit their movements unless necessary.
The Indian consulate in Kenya issued a warning, stating, “ADVISORY FOR INDIAN NATIONALS IN KENYA In view of the prevailing tense situation, all Indians in Kenya are advised to exercise utmost caution, restrict non-essential movement and avoid the areas affected by the protests and violence till the situation clears up.”
The advisory also encouraged citizens to stay informed by following local news and checking updates from the Mission’s website and social media channels.
In recent events, at least five protesters were fatally shot, and over 200 others were injured in Nairobi. The clashes escalated as police used tear gas and live ammunition after thousands of demonstrators stormed Kenya’s Parliament, setting parts of it ablaze.
