The national capital Delhi is expected to see heatwave conditions for the next few days, with temperatures perhaps rising beyond 40 degrees, according to the IMD.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported on Friday that light rain is expected to fall on the nation’s capital today, providing some much-needed relief to city dwellers from the intense heatwave sweeping the area. The IMD has also predicted a heatwave and a warm night with a probability of thunderstorms and lightning.

The weather office’s most recent advisory states that heatwave conditions are expected to persist over the next few days, with temperatures perhaps rising beyond 40 degrees.
Parts of Mumbai experienced rain on Friday, which helped to moderate the temperature and provide some relief from the intense heat.
Thursday’s maximum temperature was 44.8 degrees Celsius, which is 4.9 degrees Celsius higher than average, according to the Safdarjung Observatory, which is recognized as the city’s official marker.
IMD reports that the Najafgarh weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 45.1 degrees Celsius. At Narela, 46.4 degrees, Aya Nagar, 46.3 degrees, and 45.8 degrees at Palam, the other Delhi stations reported highs of 45.3 degrees Celsius, according to the meteorological office.
During the day, the nation’s capital was under a “orange” alert, which is code for “be prepared.” The IMD report stated that the relative humidity fluctuated between 15 and 58 percent.
It is predicted to be partly cloudy on Friday afternoon and evening, with a chance of thunderstorms and light rain or drizzle in a few locations.
In certain places, the weather office has also forecast a heatwave on Friday, along with strong surface winds that could reach 35 km/h.
