Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) seem to be reshaping their approach in IPL 2025, with ex-India batting coach Sanjay Bangar pointing out the team’s attempts to rectify mistakes from the past and take more intelligent decisions during matches.
During a recent interview with ESPNcricinfo, Bangar said that KKR is becoming more aware in its tactics. He said that one of the improvements was to push Rinku Singh up the batting order — a change from earlier matches where the batter was sent in too late to have any real impact.
Without specifically mentioning any particular match, Bangar said that the team had learned from past instances where certain players, such as Rinku Singh, were not utilized to their best. In their game against Chennai Super Kings, KKR adapted by playing in Rinku at No. 4 so that he spent more time at the crease.
Bangar also added that the franchise is showing readiness to adjust from performances in recent times. He mentioned the handling of young players like Angkrish as an instance of more considerate rotation of the team and assignment of roles according to game conditions.
According to Bangar, these adjustments suggest KKR is focused on refining their game plan as the tournament progresses. The team’s ability to learn from setbacks and implement tactical changes could prove crucial in the coming matches.
