
Due to severe heatwave conditions prevailing in Jharkhand, all schools across the state will remain closed until June 15. Temperatures soared above 40 degrees Celsius in most areas on Tuesday, with the Palamu region recording temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius. An official directive from the School Education and Literacy Department mandates the closure of all categories of schools, including government, non-government, aided/non-aided, minority, and private institutions, from June 12 to June 15 due to the scroching heat.
The meteorological department has forecasted continued high temperatures across many regions of the state in the upcoming days.
In response to heatwave alerts, the government has previously adjusted school timings. Classes for kindergarten to Class VIII were scheduled from 7 am to 11:30 am, while classes for Class IX and above were scheduled from 7 am to 12 pm until June 15, 2024.
According to the weather forecast department, the persistent intense heat is expected to endure in most parts of the state over the next few days.
