New Delhi: Bollywood actress and BJP candidate from Himachal’s Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, Kangana Ranaut, responded on Monday to claims made by Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar that she had previously ‘eaten beef and enjoyed it’. Dismissing these assertions, the BJP candidate stated, “I do not consume beef or any other type of red meat. It is disgraceful that completely unfounded rumors are being spread about me.”
In a social media post, Ranaut further emphasized that she has been advocating and promoting a yogic and ayurvedic lifestyle for decades, and such ‘tactics’ cannot damage her reputation.
“I have been advocating and promoting yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades now such tactics won’t work to tarnish my image. My people know me and they know that I am a proud Hindu and nothing can ever mislead them, Jai Shri Ram,” she stated in the post.
Kangana responded following allegations from Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Friday, who claimed that the Bollywood actress had previously mentioned consuming beef. Wadettiwar remarked that the saffron party had nominated Kangana, who had once written on X (formerly Twitter) that she ate beef and enjoyed it.
It is noteworthy that Kangana has been critical of the Congress and Rahul Gandhi since joining the saffron party. Even prior to joining the BJP, Ranaut was in the news for her pro-Hindu statements.
