The Kristu Mahotsav 2024, celebrated as a ‘festival of Christian charity,’ lit up Fr. Agnel School, Gautam Nagar, New Delhi, with a powerful message of unity and compassion. Organized by the Chavara Cultural Centre and the Association of Catholic Rehabilitation Centres in India (ACRCI), the event brought together diverse communities to promote inclusivity and celebrate the spirit of Christmas.
With the theme “A Festival of Christian Charity – Include Everyone, Exclude None,” the evening was marked by interfaith prayers, cultural performances, and charity initiatives. The focus was on empowering specially-abled children and supporting underprivileged individuals associated with Christian charitable organizations across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Religious leaders from various faiths—including Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism, Bahai Faith, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Jainism, and Christianity—attended the event. Their collective presence emphasized the shared values of love and mutual respect that transcend religious boundaries.
Inspirational Performances and Messages
Specially-abled children stole the show with their heartwarming performances, embodying the event’s core message of inclusion. Their enthusiasm and talent inspired everyone in attendance, serving as a reminder of the power of diversity and resilience.

Delhi Archbishop Most Rev. Anil Joseph Thomas Couto delivered a poignant message on the importance of dignity and equality. He said, “God has created us equal, and when we meet people with different abilities, we are reminded of our shared humanity. Compassion and understanding reflect God’s image in us, and these children teach us the true meaning of love.”
Dr. Mallika Nadha, President of Special Olympics Bharat, spoke about the importance of fostering an inclusive society. “People with disabilities must not only be included but given opportunities to shine. This celebration is a reminder of what we can achieve when we work together for a compassionate world,” she remarked.
Father Jose Alarico Carvalho, Director of Fr. Agnel School, emphasized the true essence of Christmas. “Christmas symbolizes love and selflessness. It’s a reminder to affirm the dignity of every individual, especially those with different abilities, as equal members of our society,” he said.
A Call for Inclusivity
Father Roby Kannanchira CMI, Director of Chavara Cultural Centre, highlighted the deeper purpose of the celebration. “Christmas is not just a festival; it’s a call to love without conditions, embrace inclusivity, and serve others with an open heart. Tonight reminds us that no one, regardless of their background or ability, should ever feel forgotten,” he said.
The event also saw the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. Ikbal Singh Lalpura, Chairman of the National Minority Commission, who praised the initiative for promoting interfaith harmony and inclusivity.
Kristu Mahotsav 2024 concluded with a strong message: the spirit of Christmas lies in unity, compassion, and the collective effort to ensure no one is left behind.
