LSG vs MI: The Mumbai Indians and the Lucknow Super Giants are in the same boat after winning one and losing a few games in the 2025 IPL thus far. Although the home team is recovering from a defeat, the Mumbai Indians will be eager to reclaim their victory over KKR in Lucknow.
New Delhi: 4th April 2025
Lucknow Super Giants coach Zaheer Khan’s critique of the pitch diverted attention away from the home team’s dismal performance as Rishabh Pant and his teammates prepare to face the Mumbai Indians at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium. Early wickets were crucial against the Super Giants, as the Punjab Kings did in the previous game, and after skittling the Kolkata Knight Riders for 116, the Mumbai Indians bowlers, particularly the powerplay ones, would be eager to get into the LSG middle-order early in the innings.
The Mumbai Indians have seen a pair of uncapped talents deliver blockbuster performances on their IPL debuts; nevertheless, the five-time champions want to maintain that level of performance throughout the tournament. If the pitch is similar to the Punjab Kings game, the Mumbai Indians may keep the team that faced the Kolkata Knight Riders since it provides the best balance with both bat and ball. The only box to check? Rohit Sharma as the opener. Even if he is playing as an impact player, the former MI captain must recognize that his club requires runs at the top from him to put stress on the opposition.
The Super Giants’ lack of experience in the bowling department was evident in their last game, therefore they will welcome back Akash Deep, who has been declared 100 percent fit by the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. Akash Deep may have yet to show himself in the T20 format, but his experience will be critical for LSG in putting MI batters under strain, and of course, they will need runs from their captain, Rishabh Pant.
