A man is suing the tech giant Apple for £5 million (approximately Rs 53 crore) after his wife discovered deleted messages on a linked computer, revealing his interactions with sex workers. According to The Times, the man, who admits to arranging meetings with sex workers via iMessage, believed deleting the messages would keep his activities secret
The issue arose when his wife accessed their iMac and found his messages to sex workers, including several years’ worth of supposedly deleted conversations. This discovery led to the man’s lawsuit against Apple, alleging that the company did not properly inform users that messages deleted on one device could still be visible on other linked Apple devices.
The man expressed to The Times that when a message is deleted, the user should be able to trust that it is fully erased. He admitted that finding out about his activities in this way was particularly harsh for his wife. He speculated that if he had been able to discuss the situation calmly with her, their marriage might have been saved.
Describing the divorce process as extraordinarily stressful, especially with children and family dynamics involved, the man blamed Apple for the ordeal. He argued that a proper notification confirming the deletion of messages across all devices would have been helpful and might have prevented the situation
