In an unfortunate incident, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s convoy was ambushed by militants on Monday, resulting in one security personnel being injured, as reported by India Today.
The attack occurred around 10:30 am in Kangpokpi district while CM Singh’s convoy was traveling from Imphal to Jiribam along National Highway-37.
The Chief Minister was heading to Jiribam, an area recently troubled by violence after an unidentified group brutally beheaded a man on June 6. Biren Singh was scheduled to visit this volatile region on Tuesday. The unrest in Jiribam has led to the burning of nearly 70 homes and several government offices, forcing hundreds of residents to flee.
